Steve is a Partner in Brunswick's London office and Chairman of Young & Co’s Brewery Plc.
Previously Steve was the Senior Partner of the law firm Slaughter and May from 2016 to 2024. He had been with the firm since 1982, including in its New York office from 1989-90 and been a partner for 32 years since 1991, heading its Mergers and Acquisitions practice from 2001 to 2016.
He has acted for a number of listed companies including Anglo-American, ARM, AT&T, Aviva, Barratt Developments, BAT, British Airways/International Airlines Group, Cadbury, Centrica, Comcast, Diageo, Emerson Electric, Reckitt Benckiser, Rolls-Royce, Shire, The Walt Disney Company and WPP. He is experienced in Crisis and Litigation, Mergers and Acquisitions, Activism and financial situations.
Steve is the author of “Takeovers” (2006), “The Morning of Our Lives” (2017) and “Journey Without Maps” (2023). He has also composed and performed music for over 60 films and series including “The Queen’s Green Planet”, “Land of Hope and Glory” and “Chosen”. He has an MA in Law from Lincoln College, Oxford.
