Gavin Cross

Gavin brings a deep understanding of China’s political and economic environment to support clients’ navigation of high-stakes domestic issues as well as cross-border challenges.

Managing the firm’s Technology, Media and Telecoms sector practice in Asia, his work includes supporting global tech giants managing their presences in the region, with particular experience in regulation and public policy, crisis management and leadership communications. He also supports Chinese firms managing their overseas expansion, including advising on major financial transactions, public affairs, and handling of business-critical issues.

Prior to joining Brunswick in 2021, he led research and editorial teams at Caixin Insight, the consulting business of China’s leading independent financial media group, and China Policy, an advisory firm. Both roles saw him guide a diverse client base through China’s complex macroeconomic environment and evolving regulatory landscape.

Based in China since 2016, Gavin reads, writes, and speaks Mandarin proficiently. He holds a B.A. in Policy Studies and Asian Studies from Rice University.
