Dan specializes in helping companies manage their reputation – through both proactive transformation programs and reactive crisis management. He has supported more than a dozen FTSE-100 clients and other European and US multinationals during many of their highest-profile financial, political and social challenges.
His advice for CEOs and boards spans media relations, investor communication, public affairs, employee engagement, activism defense, corporate restructuring and M&A across a range of sectors, but with a particular emphasis on technology, industrials and professional services.
Before joining Brunswick as a partner in 2018, he spent 25 years as a political and financial journalist on both sides of the Atlantic, working as a business editor and columnist for the Financial Times, The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph. He managed large teams of journalists as head of national news at the Guardian and spent 7 years reporting in the US, latterly as Washington bureau chief during the 2016 election. He began his media career on regional newspapers in Yorkshire and Birmingham, before moving to Fleet Street covering technology.
Dan is an experienced broadcast commentator, conference chair and public speaker. He is also the recipient of several reporting awards including Regional Press Young Journalist of the year, Wincott Senior Financial Journalist of the year and Foreign Press Association economic writer of the year, as well as a contributor to Guardian’s team award of the 2014 Pulitzer prize for public service journalism.
