James co-leads the firm’s Foundations, Education, and Global Health sector team, advising senior leaders from philanthropic, multilateral, and international development institutions on their most important strategic issues.

He has extensive experience in crisis, misinformation, advocacy, public affairs, replenishment campaigns, and reputation and brand management. With over 100 colleagues in offices around the world, the sector team he co-leads is at the forefront of innovation in communications and advocacy practice. James has worked with clients on every continent across sectors including mining, energy, financial institutions, and life sciences.

James joined Brunswick after earning a Doctorate as a Commonwealth Scholar at the University of Oxford, where he also taught politics. His D.Phil used econometric analysis to analyse the determinants on political participation in Africa. He is a former President of the Oxford Union and World Universities Debating Champion.

Alongside his work at Brunswick James sits on several boards. He is the Chair of the Hygiene Bank, Chair of the Shakespeare Schools Foundation, Vice-Chair of the Coalition for Global Prosperity, a trustee of Coram, and a member of the steering committee of the Trinity Challenge.
